Exporting
A website is particularly helpful for exporting firms in reaching the global market. Exporting firms require a website that has a good design, and is well-maintained because it serves as a virtual store where clients view products and place orders. As much as possible, a website must effectively facilitate sales operations. In line with this, an exporter’s website will naturally generate most of its revenues. Other revenue sources may include e-mail marketing and trade shows; but even then, exporters would still usher potential buyers to their websites.

Marketplace online
A typical scenario depicts a potential buyer or importer who logs onto the Internet and, via a browser, searches for exporting firms that offer the desired product or item. Much of the negotiation process is done online through e-mail correspondence and/or instant messaging (IM). Hence, exporters generally buy domain names so that they could have personalised web-based e-mail accounts and/or built-in IMs or chat boxes. Owning and maintaining a website is a must for exporters largely because the Internet opens doors to a very huge marketplace.
